Shilpa Shetty Raj Kundra questioned: After speculations about whether actor Shilpa Shetty is also involved in her husband and businessman Raj Kundra's alleged making of 'pornographic' films, the actor put the record straight saying she had no role to play.
Kundra has been accused to publishing 'pornographic' films through an OTT app called Hotshots. According to a report by Free Press Journal, when on July 23, the Mumbai Crime Branch team raided their Juhu residence, the official statement of the actor in the case was recorded and she reportedly broke into tears.
On Friday, after being remanded to police custody till July 27, Kundra was brought to his Juhu residence for a house search, where Shetty reportedly got involved in an argument with him. The investigating officials, who wanted to record the actor’s statement to understand if she has any links with the case, claimed that during the search, they found a cupboard hidden in a cavity. They have recovered a few files which are currently being scrutinised.
Meanwhile, the actor was visibly "shaken" and "upset" about the entire controversy while reportedly recording her statement which went on to nearly two hours. She has denied having any links with the Hotshots app. Defending her husband in the case, Shetty stated that Kundra made "erotic films, not porn".
Shetty went on to claim that she was not aware of the exact content of the controversial app in question while citing that "more obscene" examples have been carried out on other OTT platforms. She further stated that her husband never produced "porn content" and vouched for his innocence.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police has claimed that the investigation in Kundra’s case has revealed his links to two-three other apps that streamed pornographic content.
What's the case background?
The well-known businessman is accused of running the pornographic app Hotshots through his company, Viaan industries. Shetty’s statement was crucial for the ongoing investigation as she used to be a director in Viaan Industries but recently resigned, officials said.
Kundra was arrested on July 19 and was produced before the court after three days of police custody. On July 23, after an extension of his police custody till Jul 27, he has reportedly approached the Bombay high court to challenge his arrest as being “illegal’.’ He has reportedly denied all allegations against him.
