Olivia Wilde says “No a–holes” allowed in her movie sets after firing Shia LaBeouf from Don't Worry Darling film. The actress-turned-director is now filming her second directorial project starring Florence Pugh and Harry Styles. LaBeouf was originally cast in Styles' role, however, a recent report by People confirmed that Wilde had fired him from the movie citing that his attitude on set clashed with Wilde's policy.
Wilde achieved critical acclaim with teen comedy Booksmart in 2019.
Speaking to the Promising Young Woman filmmaker Emerald Fennell for Variety, Wilde explained why she adopted such a policy. Claiming that "it puts everybody on the same level," 36-year-old Wilde explained. “Someone, who’s a very established actor and director in this industry, gave me really terrible advice that was helpful, because I just knew I had to do the opposite.”
Notably, LaBeouf was sacked because he was “off-putting” and the Emmy-winning actress-turned-filmmaker said, “They said, ‘Listen, the way to get respect on a set, you have to have three arguments a day,’” Wilde further added, “‘Three big arguments that reinstate your power, remind everyone who’s in charge, be the predator.’ That is the opposite of my process. And I want none of that.”
On Dec. 11, British singer-songwriter FKA twigs filed a lawsuit against ex-boyfriend and Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf accusing him of “relentless abuse.” She alleged that when they were dating between 2018 and 2019, the Transformers actor was “abusive” and accused him of choking her, giving her a sexually transmitted disease, and “sexual battery” in a new lawsuit. The two split in 2019 after a year of dating.
