Big Boss fame and Punjabi film actor Shehnaaz Gill's father Santokh Singh, alias Sukh, was shot at on 25th December evening near Jandiala Guru area in Punjab by some unidentified armed persons.
The incident happened when he was to Beas from Amritsar. He reportedly stopped at a dhaba in Jandiala Guru to let his men answer the nature's call. In his statement to the police, he alleged his gunmen wanted to go to washroom and therefore, he stopped his car near Gurdaspuria dhaba.
According to him, that's when two people on a bike stopped near his car and fired at him. He said that four gunshots hit his car. His gunmen hurled bricks at them after hearing gunshots but they all fled. Post this, he notified Jandiala Guru police about the incident and a team of cops reached the spot for further investigation. Harpreet Singh, Station House Officer, Jandiala Guru police station, said that the police recovered four empty shells from the spot.
“Following a preliminary probe, the matter was found to be suspicious and therefore further investigation was under progress,” he said adding that his security was withdrawn after multiple criminal cases were registered against him.
Santokh Singh has been in news this year for other reasons as well. He recently joined the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and his move came right ahead of the the state Assembly elections in 2022. A few months ago, in an interview, Santokh Singh Sukh said that Shehnaaz Gill was not fine after her rumoured boyfriend Siddharth Shukla's death. He had called her up to console her. He was also seen getting a tattoo of her name on his arms in one of the The tattoo had Shehnaaz’ name with a design of folded hands and a rosemary. This represented the act of support during her grieving period in one of the videos shared by Shehnaaz Gill’s fan pages.
Shehnaaz Gill was spotted at her manager's engagement on 26th December wearing a black shimmery dress. She was also seen grooving to song 'Zingaat'. Fans were happy to see her get back to normal life after her photos from the ceremony surfaced on the internet. Soon, Shehnaaz Gill started trending on Twitter. Kashmera Shah, Monalisa, Vikrant Singh and many others were among those invited to the function.
