Shehbaz Sharif: All About Infamous Honey Bridge And More

Shehbaz Sharif is sworn in as Pakistan’s 23rd prime minister on Monday, April 12, 2022, just hours after former Prime Minister Imran Khan, was ousted as the Prime Minister, following the No-confidence vote in his government. Apart from his political stature, his marital life is also in news. He is known to have built the Infamous Honey Bridge for his ex-wife Aaliya Honey.

Shehbaz Sharif, the newly elected Pakistan PM is the younger brother of Nawaz Sharif, the former three-time Prime Minister of Pakistan. Sharif is also the current president of the Pakistan Muslim League and has served as the Chief Minister of Punjab three times. Shehbaz Sharif has been married five times and is currently married to author Tehmina Durrani. He is known for constructing a bridge in Lahore, named Honey Bridge, after his second wife Aaliya Honey.

Shehbaz Sharif's first marriage was to Begum Nusrat in 1973. As per reports from the Pakistani media, Sharif’s first marriage was an act of rebellion and was done against his father's approval. He married Begum Nusrat Shahbaz, at the age of 23, and the couple have four children together Salman, Hamza, and twin sisters Javeria and Rabia.

Sharif allegedly married a model named Aaliya Honey in 1993, shortly after the death of his first wife. Reports state that he built a bridge called the Honey Bridge named after his wife. There are claims that the bridge was built so that he could easily travel to his wife's house. Shehbaz allegedly married Honey when he was 43 years old and reportedly has a daughter from his marriage. This marriage was said to be strongly opposed by his brother Nawaz Sharif. It is reported that the Sharif family refused to acknowledge their union. Reportedly, Sharif divorced Honey in the year 1994, and she died shortly after. Details about her death are not known.

In the same year as his marriage to Aaliya, Sharif reportedly married his third wife Nilofar Khosa, who is the sister of Tariq Khosa, the Director-General of the Federal Investigation Agency. Justice Asif Saeed Khosa is her father. Reports also claim that he was married to Nilofar Khosa before secretly marrying Aaliya Honey.

Shahbaz Sharif secretly married socialite and novelist Tehmina Durrani in 2003. While it is believed that the two married after an eight-year relationship, his party workers were said to be disappointed about this wedding. As per reports, his marriage to Durrani caused quite the stir and it was speculated that his political career would be ruined.

Tehmina Durrani is a well-known Pakistani author, activist, socialite, and artist. She is well known for her controversial work My Feudal Lord, which highlights her relationship with her former husband Mustafa Khar. Shahbaz Sharif currently lives with his fourth wife, Tehmina Durrani in his ancestral home Raiwind Palace in Lahore

After his marriage to Tehmina, he married Kalsoom Hayi in 2012. However, reports have claimed that the couple has separated and Kalsoom denied all claims of being associated with Sharif through marriage. Sharif is the newly appointed PM of Pakistan. He has already served three times as chief minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province, home to 60% of the country’s 220 million people. He previously owned Ittefaq Group, a multimillion-dollar steel conglomerate, which was sold to Al-Rehmat Group of Companies in 2004.
