The combination of spa and salon into a ‘spalon’ is the latest "in" thing in Pune and Kaveeta Pol has taken the experience a notch higher by creating Orrganic Elemennt. Pol’s love for animals led her to start this spalon. A vegetarian herself, she tries to spread the word about stopping cruelty to animals, whether in the food business or the beauty business. A decade long experience in the industry of chemicals and cosmetics compelled her to give it all up and start alerting people about the misuse of chemicals in such cosmetics products.
So a huge shout out to all the vegans and organic product lovers as SheThePeople.TV talks to Pol about her venture and how important vegan and organic living is for us
I wanted to create awareness that women can still look beautiful without the use of harsh chemicals
Orrganic Elemennt: The purely vegan experience
It is India’s first organic, vegan and cruelty free spalon. The entire salon plus spa is PETA certified. Also the brands we use at our spalon are all PETA certified and while a few are Indian brands, most of the others are imported from different parts of the world. The reason why I have taken such brands which are PETA certified is because there is authenticity and trust associated to them and they have to go through strict process to get certification.
Even the interiors of the spalon go well with the theme of being eco-friendly- the walls have been painted by lead-free paint, we have used jute and cane for decor and copper vessels.
I wanted to create awareness that women can still look beautiful without the use of harsh chemicals.

The love for animals was the inspiration
I have been working in this industry for about a decade now. Before coming back to Pune about two years back, I was living in the U.S. for nine years and before that when I was in India I was working with chemicals.
It was about a year back when I thought about doing something like this. It took me about nine months into research and finally set up the spalon. In India it is difficult to start something organic because then you have to let go of a lot of services.
I have always been a staunch vegetarian and an animal lover. In India there are only a few brands that are chemical-free especially in hair colour. Have you seen those video of chemicals being tried on animals and what it does to them? I being from the industry know exactly what those chemicals can do to your body and scalp. So I decided that I needed to create a platform where people can go completely chemical free, organic and nothing that is used on animals is used.
My dream is to create awareness about organic, vegan and cruelty-free lifestyle in India

I wanted to do something different. I wanted to tell people that you really don’t need to harm Mother Nature and animals to look a certain way. In the west, people are much more conscious about it but here it’s not like that.

Living the Vegan life
I have been a staunch vegetarian and now turning myself into a vegan and it is not difficult at all since the only non-vegan product that I was consuming was milk. Now I have found this amazing thing called almond milk. I don’t eat ghee, yoghurt and strictly no animal by-product for me.
Expansion is the dream
The kind of responses I am getting definitely pushes me to open it in other cities as well. A couple of people have also approached me, but this is my flagship store, I want to first settle this. My dream is to create awareness about organic, vegan and cruelty-free lifestyle in India especially when the pollution level is soaring and cruelty is everywhere.
