Shakhawat Ali Nobel, the husband of Raima Islam Shimu, popular Bangladeshi actor who was found dead earlier this week, has reportedly confessed to a role in her murder. Nobel was taken into police custody after Shimu's body was found in Dhaka on Monday. She had gone missing in the period prior to her body being found and a general diary was filed with the local police following a complaint by Nobel.
Nobel and his driver were detained after Shimu's body was recovered near Hazratpur Bridge in the Keraniganj area. The Bangladesh police's elite Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) reportedly retrieved a car as a piece of evidence from Nobel's possession.
During interrogation, Nobel confessed to having a hand in Shimu's murder and according to reports, police are suspecting the matter concerns a family feud. More on the case.

According to local The Daily Star, Nobel allegedly strangled Shimu to death on January 15 and after keeping it for a day, tried to dispose of it with the help of a friend. They put her body in a sack and on the night of January 16, Sunday, disposed of it at Hazratpur Bridge.
Following that, Nobel reportedly took the matter to the police and filed a complaint to prevent suspicion. A day later on January 17, locals discovered Shimu's body and informed the police.
Shimu's body reportedly bore injuries. The family of the actor soon after alleged Nobel's role in her death. They claimed Nobel was abusive and violent towards her, also alleging he was a drug addict.

Shimu's death has prompted condolences from across the Bangladeshi entertainment industry. Certain reports suggest prominent actor Zayed Khan's name has come up in connection to Shimu's death, regarding membership of the Bangladeshi artists' association.
Prior to her death, Shimu had taken to social media to express anger over her membership being revoked from the association and named Khan, the general secretary of the group, indicating a fallout.
Khan has claimed he is being framed and has no role in Shimu's death.
