Shahid Kapoor's Sister To Star In Film On Body Shaming

Bollywood is waking up to the grave issue of body shaming. 'Saroj Ka Rishta', which focuses on the issue, stars Sanah Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor's half-sister and is to be directed by Abhishek Saxena.

This is Sanah's second film. She had made her debut in 2015 with Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhat-starrer 'Shaandaar.'

The Storyline

The director said that the film deals with body shaming in a very different way.

Abhishek told Indian Express, “Yes, I am doing a film with Sanah Kapoor. We will be starting the shooting later this month. It is thinly-based on body shaming, but we are not showing it at all. It is about a fat girl, who is very happy with herself and her life, but people around her have issues with her weight.”

He added, “I am a plus size myself. I am trying to show how this girl’s father has no issues with her weight and is not bothered to get her married off."

"They are from Ghaziabad, a small town where getting daughters married off is the biggest pressure, and yet this father stands out from the cliched mentality.”

The Cast

On casting Sanah, Saxena said, “I thought Sanah was perfect because here she won’t have to play the part, she just has to be herself. Sanah was perfect to play Saroj’s character.”

Kumud Mishra will play the role of Sanah’s onscreen father. He has been seen in movies like 'Rockstar', 'Tiger Zinda Hai' and 'Rustom'.

Actors Randeep Rai and Gaurav Pandey will be playing the role of the two men in Saroj’s life.

Randeep Rai is a young TV actor, who has been seen in TV serials like 'O Gujariya: Badlein Chal Duniya' and 'Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai'. Gaurav Pandey has starred in Bollywood movies like 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' and 'Flying Jatt.'
