The much-awaited results of the JEE Advanced 2019 examinations are out now. Shabnam Sahay from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has emerged as the topper among female candidates, securing the 10th rank all over India. Kartikey Chandresh Gupta has bagged the All India Rank 1 scoring 346 out of 372 marks.
The exam was conducted on May 27 on the computer-based test format only. The answer key of the same was released on June 4.
The JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Advanced exam is second in the series after JEE Mains to secure admissions in premier education institutes such as Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc), etc. The exam is conducted for admissions in 23 Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and National Institute of Technology (NITs) across the country.
An all-rounder
Sahay, who obtained a tally of 308 out of 372 marks and is also the female zone topper for Bombay Zone, said after the results were declared that she had not expected this rank.
“I was always interested in Science subjects and that motivated me to opt for engineering. My sister is also in IIT Delhi and she is studying Physics,” Shabnam said.
The 17-year-old is also a Bharatnatyam dancer and a piano player. She equally enjoys music and dancing and loves studying science as well. Her father is a professor at IIM-Ahmedabad while her mother is an architect.
“I want to enjoy them as I am passionate about them. But by choosing to pursue my career in them, I do not want to burden myself,” she added. She scored 104 in Physics and Chemistry, respectively and 100 in Mathematics. The legacy continues

Last year, the JEE advanced exam was conducted on May 20, and over 1, 60,000 students appeared for the JEE Advanced exam. In 2018, Meenal Parakh was the topper among girls from Roorkee zone securing All India Rank (AIR) 6. Parakh secured 318 marks out of the total 360. She was the student of Kota’s Vibrant Academy.

A total of 1,61,319 candidates appeared in both the papers (JEE Mains and Advanced) and only 38,705 candidates have qualified for JEE Advanced 2019. Of the total qualified candidates who qualified, 5356 are females.
However, reports suggest that there has been a fall in the number of aspirants who appeared for these examinations. Furthermore, IIT Roorkee has released the final answer key for JEE Advanced 2019 and has also released the schedule for the upcoming Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT).
The registration of JEE (Advanced) 2019 qualified candidates for Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) will begin on June 14, and close on June 15. The centers for AAT are IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Roorkee, says a NDTV report.
