SFI Activist Files Habeas Corpus:Anupama, a 22-year-old woman, has filed a habeas corpus petition at Kerala High Court on Monday seeking to recover her child who had gone missing for the past year.
As per reports, the woman is an SFI activist and granddaughter of a former Communist Party Of India (Marxist) leader in Kerala. Her husband named Ajith is also a worker of the youth wing of the party. The missing child of the couple was allegedly given in adoption to a couple in Andhra Pradesh by Child Welfare Committee (CWC) last year.
Anupama in her petition has alleged that her son was allegedly taken away from her when he was four days old in october last year when she was recovering from a cesarean operation. She alleged that her parents and four other people close his father were behind this. She has now asked the court to help her get her child back.
According to a report by News Minute, a Family Court in Kerala's capital had stayed all the adoption procedures of the baby boy to the Andhra couple. The court had also asked the CWC to file an affidavit about the details of the came and what had happened. The hearing for the same has been extended to November 20 this year. The court in its order also stated that if need be, a DNA test could also be conducted to determine whom does the child belong to.
The court also reprimanded the CWC which reportedly admitted that its license for adoption had expired and they are in the process of renewing it.
