Sasikala may take over as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, sources told CNN-News 18. She may take over from O Panneerselvam who was made the CM after J Jayalalithaa passed away in December.
The MLAs of the AIADMK party will hold a meeting tomorrow, the results of which are eagerly awaited. Sources say she may take over as CM as early as Monday.
AN AIADMK spokesperson CR Saraswathi confirmed that a decision about Sasikala taking over as CM would be made on Sunday.
A minister who preferred to be unnamed told CNN-News 18 that “Chinnamma (Sasikala) could take over as the Chief Minister on Monday, which is an auspicious day. You see, Panneerselvam has been continuing as CM only on Chinnamma’s advice.”
After Jayalaitaa’s death, Sasikala Natarajan was chosen as the General Secretary of the party.
Sasikala, who is lovingly known as Chinnamma was Jayalalithaa’s close confidante for nearly three decades. However, she never held a formal position in the party, which has led to some tension between her and the AIADMK.
On Friday, she conducted her first major restructuring of the party, after taking over as General Secretary, by appointing 13 former ministers as the party’s organising secretaries. These ministers had reportedly been sidelined by J Jayalalithaa.
If Sasikala becomes CM on Monday then she must crack down on Porkis

Sasikala to take over as CM. Sad about that. Much much much sadder that Cho is not around to rip this nonsense apart. Money talks I guess.

Though Sasikala has never held a post in the government, and has not been elected as an MLA, she can still become the Chief Minister if the AIADMK Legislature elect her. After she becomes the Chief Minister, she will then have sic months to get elected as an MLA. The current Chief Minister, Panneerselvam will have to step down.
There is much speculation over which constituency Sasikala will contest from.
