After Mahsa Amini death due to alleged police brutality, Iran has been witnessing protests. Thousands of Iranian reportedly showed their anger by chopping their hair and burning the hijab.
Amid protest, the Persian version of the popular film Bella Ciao’s Italian protest song is going viral. Iranian sisters Samin and Behin Bolouri, belonging to Rasht, sang the song.

Samin and Behin Bolouri on September 16, shared the cover on Instagram, the day Amini died after three days in the hospital.
Bolouri sisters' Instagram post got over two lakh views and it is still trending. Journalist Habib Khan shared it on Twitter and so far, earned over five lakh views. The journalist captioned the video a Persian version of the 19th-century Italian protest folk song, Bella Ciao.
Twitter users' responses started pouring in. A user wrote, “Finally! the meaningful song is going where it belongs. A deep respect for the soul of the strong Iranian woman.”
Another wrote, “I don’t know Persian. But the harmony and passion give me goosebumps.”
Few also criticised Italian For choosing the right-wing government. A user said, "How ironic when Italia will elect a fascist, that this song is used again."
Another user said, "Wow amazing. The fierceness the passion the rage. Beautiful."
One user tweeted- "The Iranian women protest against covering making other Islamic countries uncomfortable And "women are free to choose what they wear" gang active."
The protests in Iran erupted post-death of Mahsa Amini, 22. She reportedly died in the morality police custody, after she was arrested on September 13 in Tehran by the Guidance Patrol. She was detained for not wearing the hijab properly. She was hospitalised post-arrest and died after being in a coma for three days. Police conveyed Amini had a heart attack. Although, her family insists Amini never had cardiovascular problems. Also, Amini’s medical report showing severe head injuries and skull fractures was reportedly leaked. Iran's citizens took a stand against the said cruelty.
