After facing widespread backlash, they had also issued an apology for the video, posted on Instagram. “Humne kahi bhi insult nahin kiya. Humne kahi bhi racism wali baat nahin ki...yaa kahi bhi adivasi ki baat nahin ki (We never insulted anybody. We never talked about anything related to racism. Or never mentioned Adivasi in the video). And yet the Adivasi community blamed us said ‘You should delete the video and say sorry’,” Seth was quoted saying by Hindustan Times.
According to Seth, the duo invests their time to create satirical videos to entertain the audience. However, a video uploaded on June 16 got called out on social media for its insensitive content. More here.
Sambhavna Seth video controversy: In the video, Seth and Husband Dwivedi can be seen laughing at their domestic help’s native language.
It was “unintentional”: Seth
Seth claims that they are deeply saddened to read the comments on Instagram but clarifies that it was unintentional and they later apologised for it after deleting the video. “Yeh ek maheene pehle ka video hai. Suddenly yeh wali baat kaha se aayi mujhe nahin pata (The video was made a month back and suddenly it became a huge deal I don't know how)," she adds. The Bhojpuri films actor then said that when she attempts to make videos, it’s not to insult anybody or any community and that she doesn't want to be dragged into these controversies.
Seth, who has her own YouTube channel, feels people must not immediately jump to conclusions. She claimed they have been taking care of their domestic help and helped them get vaccinated. She also mentioned, going forward, “of course” they will be more careful about what to upload and what can offend people in general.
In the past, Munmun Dutta and Yuvika Chaudhary were also called out for casteist slurs in their online content.
