According to The New York Times, the novel will be following the journey of four young people living in Ireland as they deal with the pressures of work and relationships against the backdrop of political turmoil. The novel will also talk about their fears about money and their futures.
Normal People was adapted for BBC Three last year. Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal played the on-off couple Marianne and Connell. The series shows teenagers from opposite tax brackets who come together due to their love of literature and distaste for their less industrious peers. A mini-series based on Conversations with Friends is also in the making.
