Olympic medallist Sakshi Malik after stunning and comfortably winning her semi-final bouts, settled for a silver in the finals. The big sensation Sakshi wrestled in the final of women’s 60kg category at the Senior Asian Wrestling Championships in New Delhi and clinched a silver against Olympic gold medallist Japan’s Risako Kawai.

Though the 24-year-old in her quest for the gold medal, missed by a whisker, Sakshi played out real well in her first international competition after winning the 58kg bronze medal at Rio Olympics.
Meanwhile, the other Indian women grapplers -- Ritu Phogat won bronze in Women’s freestyle 48 kg after getting a walkover by Sun Yanan of China.

And, Vinesh Phogat took home a silver after losing it to Sae Nanjo of Japan in Women’s freestyle 55 kg final. She was playing on her comeback from injury.

Earlier, Sakshi in the first bout in the semis, beat Uzbekistan’s Nabira Esenbaeva 6-2 and then knocked out Ayaulym Kassymova of Kazakhstan 15-4 to enter the final, assuring herself at least a silver.
