The magazine's December issue focuses on stories of people who have shattered stereotypes. Verve told SheThePeople.TV that they chose Sakshi Malik because she symbolises someone who is breaking stereotypes in her profession. She represents the magazine's mission of highlighting pioneers who are path breakers in their fields, Verve tells us. They felt that they could celebrate their 21st anniversary in a big way by giving Sakshi Malik importance.

Even though Malik is in the list of top newsmakers in 2016, this is the first time she has been featured on a magazine cover!

It is refreshing to see a sportswoman in all her fierceness on the cover of a women's fashion magazine. We hope Verve inspires similar publications to think out of the box and showcase strong and real women!
