Saina Nehwal To Set Up Badminton Academy In Dharamshala

Badminton champion Saina Nehwal’s International Badminton Academy is going to come up soon, said Rakesh Pathania, the Minister for Forests, Youth and Sports Affairs.

According to the minister, Saina Nehwal has been allotted 52 Kanal land in Sakoh area of Dharamshala. Pathania, during his press conference also said that Rs 18 crore has been sanctioned for setting up of an international shooting range in Kangra district along with two indoor skating ranges being set up in Dharamshala and Shimla.

He said that a total of 18 stadiums will be functional in Himachal Pradesh by the end of 2021. He further listed out the state government’s achievements. According to him, maximum works in the state are being done under Prime Minister Gram Sevak Yojana in the past three years. He also claimed that thousands of people in Himachal Pradesh have been brought the social security scheme.

Saina Nehwal is to resume playing international tournaments with the upcoming Yonex Thailand Open and Toyota Thailand Open in January. In the tournament, Nehwal will play against Japanese player Nozomi Okuhara and then face Thai player Ratchanok Inthanon

Recently, Nehwal recovered from COVID-19 and her performance in the upcoming Thailand tournament is much awaited as her opponents are reported to be ‘tough task’.

In January this year, Saina Nehwal joined politics and became part of the ruling party Bharatiya Janta Party. While making the announcement wearing the Indian tricolour flag, Nehwal had said, “Modi Ji has done so much for sports in India with initiatives like ‘Khelo India’” said Saina Nehwal after joining BJP.

“I am joining BJP Party is working for the benefit of the country,” she added.
