Russia's First Royal Wedding Ceremony After More Than A Century Kickstarts

Russian royal wedding: Grand Duke of Russia, George Romanov is marrying his fiancé Rebecca Bettarini in Saint Petersburg on October 1. This will be the first royal wedding in the country after more than 100 years. Before this, the last royal wedding in the country took place during the Romanov dynasty's rule in the country.

The ceremony will take place at the Saint Isaac Cathedral. The distinguished guest list includes Prince Rudolf of Liechtenstein, Queen Sofia of Spain, Princess Tilsim and former king and queen of Bulgaria.

The groom, Ramanov is an Oxford graduate and his mother, Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna Romanova is the granddaughter of a cousin of Russia's last Tsar, Nicolas II. He was executed in 1918 along with his wife and children by the Bolshevik revolutionaries.

• Romanov's fiancé is the daughter Italian diplomat Roberto Bettarini. She is an author with many books under her pen name Georgina Perosch.
• Bettarini is also the director of a philanthropic venture established by George Romanov named Russian Imperial Foundation, as per reports.
• Romanov and Bettarini have reportedly known each other for a decade. In December 2020, Romanov proposed marriage to her.
• As per reports, he gave her a ring which he inherited from his mother at the age of 18.
• Bettarini shared the news on her social media handle. She wrote, “A new chapter of our life book together is starting. As a writer I hope that the journey ahead will be full of love, suspense and adventure as the first part of our life book was.”
• The couple have already had a civil marriage on September 25.
• Bettarini shared on Instagram that they got married at the civil register in Moscow and shared a picture from the wedding. The religious wedding ceremony is currently underway in Saint Petersburg.
