Roshni Nadar Malhotra, the chairperson of HCL technologies is the wealthiest woman in India according to ‘Kotak Wealth Hurun–Leading Wealthy Women’ report. Following up Nadar on the list are Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw of Biocon and Leena Gandhi Tewari of USV pharmaceuticals. Nadar's net worth has been placed at 54,850 crore rupees, while that of Shaw and Tewari stands at 36,600 crore and 21,340 crore rupees respectively.

The Hindu reports that the list of 100 wealthiest women in India is based on their estimated net worth as of September 30, 2020. A net worth of 100 crore rupees was the threshold for this ranking. As per a press release, this year's list focusses on entrepreneurs, women who play an active role in their family business and professionals. The cumulative wealth of all the women who feature on this list stands at rupees 2,72,540 crore.
Among all those featured on this list, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw is the wealthiest self-made woman, reports Business Standard. 19 women are 40 years of age or below. Of the hundred, 31 are self-made and 25 are entrepreneurs. There are six professional managers and women entrepreneurs from the start-up ecosystem each on the list.
