A woman leader of Congress, Rita Yadav was shot by miscreants late on Monday evening near Diara overbridge of Lucknow-Varanasi four-lane under construction in Sultanpur.
Yadav grabbed the headlines after showing a black flag to prime minister Narendra Modi in Sultanpur. She has been reportedly lit by a bullet on her leg and admitted to CHC Lambhua. The doctors referred her to the district hospital. CO of Lambhua Satish Chand Shukla reached the spot and investigated and Yadav's statement has been recorded.
Yadav said that she had gone to get the poster-banner made and when she was going home on the way, three people overtook her Bolero near Lambhua on the highway and abused and threatened to kill her. She said they "put a pistol on my driver's forehead. When I slapped him on it, he shot me and fled."
The Police has said that the condition of the leader is now stable. The shooter has not been identified. The cops are now trying to catch the culprits.
On November 16, PM Modi was visiting Sultanpur to inaugurate Purvanchal Expressway. During this, Rita Yadav allegedly showed him a black flag. After this, the police arrested her and sent her to jail. She got bail after two days. She met Congress District President Abhishek Singh Rana in Lucknow on December 17 and joined the Congress subsequently. She met Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadhra on the same day after joining the party. It is being said that Gandhi will come to meet her now as well. Before joining Congress Yadav worked for Samajwadi Party. She also raised protest slogans against UP Chief Minister Adityanath at a rally at Arwal Keeri in the district.
