At the start of the match, Malik trailed 0-3 initially after the first period against Mariana but soon she turned it around, and led with 5-3. Mariana the fought back to make the score even, but it was Malik's lucky day at the Olympics.

On the other hand, #VineshPhogat started off good, leading with 1-0 against Sun Yanan in freestyle 48kg quarter-finals. But unfortunately Phogat hurt her right knee.
