The Indian women’s hockey team yet again produced a poor performance and was outplayed by Argentina, losing 0-5 in the final group B game in the Rio Olympics. With this their Olympic journey has effectively ended.

Having drawn against Japan and losing back-to-back to three other teams, India needed to beat fourth placed Argentina (with three points) and then would have hoped that Australia beat Japan (also on one point). That way, India could’ve climbed to fourth with four points while Argentina finished with three and Japan with one. But India’s campaign has unfortunately ended and they finish last in the group.
