Rihanna on Farmers protest: Global pop icon Rihanna tweeted about the on-going farmer's protest in India on February 2 with the hashtag #farmersprotest.
She retweeted an article about Indian government cutting internet access around Delhi after the farmer's agitation on January 26. Further her caption read, " why aren't we talking about this?!"
After Rihanna's gesture, many Twitter users came in support of her. Some of the comments even ridiculed Indian celebrities for not paying heed to the protest while an international artist tweeted about.
On the other hand, some users were not happy about her tweet and have raised criticisms too.

Kangana Ranaut replied to the pop star by reposting her tweet and called the protestors "terrorists who are trying to divide India". She also addressed Rihanna as a "fool" and said, " Sit down you fool, we are not selling".
No one is talking about it because they are not farmers they are terrorists who are trying to divide India, so that China can take over our vulnerable broken nation and make it a Chinese colony much like USA...

Sit down you fool, we are not selling our nation like you dummies. https://t.co/OIAD5Pa61a
However, the tweet has indeed gained global attention after the pop star shared the news.
The farmers have been protesting against the three farm laws since October last year after the Indian government implemented the new farm law. Even after several rounds of talks between the central government and the farmers' union, the matter is still unresolved.
On Republic Day this year, the matter grew worse. Farmer's conducted tractor rallies and revolted in the capital city. A farmer lost his life. As a result of this, the government took stringent measures and cut the internet facilities at the areas of protests at several borders of Delhi.
After Rihanna's tweet, many international personalities have spoken up on the farmers' protest. Swedish environmental activist too extended her support to the protesting farmers on Twitter, writing "We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India."

US Vice President Kamala Harris' niece Meena Harris wrote in her tweet that "the most populous democracy is under assault." She further added, "We ALL should be outraged by India’s internet shutdowns and paramilitary violence against farmer protesters."
It’s no coincidence that the world’s oldest democracy was attacked not even a month ago, and as we speak, the most populous democracy is under assault. This is related. We ALL should be outraged by India’s internet shutdowns and paramilitary violence against farmer protesters. https://t.co/yIvCWYQDD1 pic.twitter.com/DxWWhkemxW
