Rhea Chakraborty Arrested By Narcotics Control Bureau In Drug Probe

Actor Rhea Chakraborty has been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the drug probe around Sushant Singh Rajput's death case. She has been taken into custody, and the final processes of arresting her are reportedly underway. Her arrest comes following a three-day questioning by the NCB. She will be taken for medical examination post her arrest.

The 28-year-old actor and former girlfriend of Rajput is reportedly the prime accused in his death case. As per NDTV, she had earlier denied consuming drugs, but NCB sources reported that she "had been evasive on certain questions."

Chakraborty's lawyer, Satish Maneshinde said in a statement, "3 Central Agencies hounding a single Woman, just because she was in love with a Drug Addict and was suffering from Mental Health issues for several years under the care of 5 Leading Psychiatrists in Mumbai , who ended up committing suicide due to consumption of Illegally Administered Medicines and used drugs."

Other People Arrested In Drug Probe

Last week on Friday, Chakraborty's younger brother Showik, along with Rajput's house manager Samuel Miranda, and cook Dipesh Sawant, had been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Following his arrest, their father, Lt Col (Retd) Indrajit Chakraborty had issued a statement that India Today quoted: "Congratulations India, you have arrested my son, I'm sure next on the line is my daughter and I don't know who is next thereafter. You have effectively demolished a middle-class family. But of course, for the sake of justice, everything is justified. Jai Hind."

Rhea Names 25 Top Bollywood Celebs In Drug Probe

This morning, it was reported that Rhea Chakraborty and her brother had named 25 "top Bollywood celebrities" from the film industry to the NCB, which will be issuing a summons to them. They will be categorised per Cartels A, B, and C.

Rhea Chakraborty, in previous interviews with NDTV and India Today, had categorically denied consuming banned substances, alleging that it was Sushant Singh Rajput who used to consume them. However, she has allegedly confessed to the consumption of marijuana to the NCB.

Chakraborty’s bail plea was denied by a local court under 27A of the NDPS act on Tuesday night, and the court ordered that she be kept in judicial custody for 14 days. She has been charged with procuring drugs for Rajput.

Chakraborty reportedly spent the night at the NCB office and will be moved to Mumbai’s Byculla Jail for 14 days starting today.

The NCB said that she was “an active member of the drug syndicate connected with drug supplies” and knew of “every delivery and payment.” However, the Bureau said it didn’t want her custody since they have already questioned her for three days
