Rekha Menon: IT industry's top body Nasscom on Thursday announced that they have appointed Rekha M Menon, current chairperson and senior managing director of Accenture India, as their chairperson for the year 2021-22.
Rekha Menon will the first woman in Nasscom's 30-years of existence to become its chairperson. She took the position occupied by the chief operating officer of Infosys Ltd U.B Pravin Rao who served as the chairperson of Nasscom in 2020-2021.
Along with Menon, Nasscom announced the appointment of Krishnan Ramanujan as its vice-chairperson for 2021-2022. Ramanujan is the head of Business & Technology Services at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

Rekha Menon, who earlier worked as the vice-chairperson of Nasscom expressed her delight over the new appointment. She pointed the damages brought by the ongoing pandemic and highlighted that even the pandemic "has created new opportunities for growth with technology emerging as the lifeline for societies and economies across the world. As we cautiously navigate the pandemic, I look forward to working with the Nasscom executive council and its members to drive our industry’s long-term growth."
Nasscom said that under the leadership of Nasscom with the newly appointed president Debjani Ghosh, will take forward the industry in the digital transformation journey. They said that goal is to make Indian a leading hub for digital talent by catalyzing innovation and developing a favourable policy ecosystem.
At the moment, Nasscom's executive council reportedly has 40% female representation. The newly appointed executive council includes engineering research, business process management (BPM), global capacity centres (GCC), research and development (ER&D), IT services, startups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
According to the organisation, the new council will aim to play a strategic role in making India's tech sector take leadership roles in global capacity through different initiatives and programmes.
Nasscom identifies itself as the organisation focused on expanding India's role in the global IT sector map.
