India lost one of its greatest visionaries Ratan Tata on October 10, a businessman and philanthropist that gave back to the society in more ways than one. Ratan Tata's charm and vision has garnered him so much wealth and love from the country and the love outpouring across the country before his last rites were a testament to that.
But did you know there were four specific women Tata loved back dearly, out of the ocean of people he charmed? Let's take a look at his untold love story.
I backed off: said Tata on not being married
In a 2011 interview with CNN, Ratan Tata revealed how he was seriously close to getting married, not once, but four times in his life. Reflecting on his decision from back then, he revealed he was skeptical and also scared. The reasons for India's biggest industrialist's cold feet were not revealed fully. But he did say that he did not regret his decision, he was sure that if he would have gotten married his life would have been complex.
"I came seriously close to getting married four times and each time I backed off in fear or for one reason or another. Each occassion was different, but in hindsight when I look back at the people involved, it wasn't a bad thing what I did," his statements read.
When a follow-up question was thrown at him asking if he has been in love and if yes, how many times? He replied, "Seriously, four times."
The one time he fell the hardest
Adding on to deets about his relationship life he revealed how he was the most serious when he fell for this American woman.
"I was probably the most serious when I was working in the US, and the only reason we didn't get married was that I came back to India and she was to follow me. That was the year of the Indo-Chinese conflict."
The 1962 border war became the chink in the love armor of the supposed Mr and Mrs. Tata. Given the tense geopolitical situation, Tata's American girlfriend decided to stay in the US and get married there.
I feel lonely...: Tata revealed on Ex-GF Simi Garewal's show
When asked question about how his bachelor life is treating him, Tata revealed, "I don't know what motivates me but just let me stay with that for a minute. There are many times I feel lonely at not having a wife or family, and sometimes I long for it. But sometimes I enjoy the freedom of not having to worry about the feelings of someone else or the concerns of someone else."
Talking about Simi Garewal, she has revealed of they both shared a relationship for a brief period of time. Simi has only had nice things to say about him, even after their break-up. In a 2011 interview she quoted, "Ratan Tata and I go way back. He's perfection. He's got a sense of humour, is modest and the perfect gentleman.
After the gentleman died on October 10, she took to X and wrote "They say you are gone. It's too hard to bear your loss, too hard. Farewell, my friend."
