A Delhi-based Rapper MC Kode who went missing from his residence was found by Delhi Police in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur on Wednesday. The 22-year-old had gone missing after posting a suicide note on social media a week ago.
Following the complaint filed by Deepa Tiwari, his mother, in South Delhi’s Mehrauli police station on June 4 a case of kidnapping was registered.
“We found that his phone’s last location was in Noida on May 25. It was later switched off. We wrote to social media sites to provide Tiwari’s account details,” a senior police officer said.
Atul Kumar Thakur, DCP (South) informed that Tiwari was found at a friend’s place in Jabalpur.
Rapper MC Kode aka Aditya Tiwari is a popular name in the underground hip-hop circuit of the capital and one of the founders of Spit Dope Inc a collective that organises battle raps. Tiwari had gone missing after sharing an Instagram story on June 2 after being trolled on social media and calling out allegedly controversial remarks about the Mahabharata in a 2016 video.
“Currently standing at an isolated bridge overlooking the Yamuna… I do not blame anyone for anything but myself. A relief from my own existence is gonna serve as a punishment that the entire country wanted,” Aditya wrote in his Instagram story.
MC Kode’s family also claimed he received death threats on social media although he apologised for the old video. One of the trolls announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for anyone who would slap Tiwari 20 times and capture the act.
Deepa Tiwari told ANI on Wednesday, “Some miscreants started circulating a 6-year-old video of a rap battle of Aditya, who goes by MC Kode, on social media a few days back. Contents of the video might have hurt the religious sentiments of some people. Trolls gave it a religious colour”.
His mother also informed that Aditya issued an apology but "trolling, death threat & abuse continued".
"After he wrote a note & went missing, social media handles trolling him were found deactivated. The old video was dug out & circulated due to jealousy & enmity,” she further added.
