As per the reports, the rape survivor narrated her ordeal to her husband who has filed a complaint with the Kamalpur Bar Association. Following this, a three-member panel led by Dhalai district and sessions judge Gautam Sarkar and comprising chief judicial magistrate Satyajit Das was constituted to probe the incident. The panel visited the judge's office soon after the complaint was filed.
What happened between the judge and the woman?
In the affidavit and the complaint, the woman alleged that the judge invited her inside the chamber alone, asking the woman police official to stay outside. The woman said in the complaint, "I was asked to go into his chamber alone and the woman police personnel was asked to stay outside. The judge closed the door, and I was narrating the incident when he asked me to stand up, groped me and sexually assaulted me."
She also accused the judge of subjecting her to digital rape. When she told her husband about the judge's misdeed, he instantly filed a complaint.
The trauma of the rape that she was already dealing with
The woman initially was a survivor of a rape that happened at her residence. On February 13, a 26-year-old man allegedly raped her. She was in the process of recording her complaint against this incident when she was subjected to another sexual misconduct.
A senior police officer told the media, "A case was lodged at Kachhucherra police station on February 15. She went to the judicial magistrate’s office the next day to record her statement."
Moreover, advocate Shibendra Dasgupta from the Kamalpur Bar Association said, “A complaint was filed addressing the Kamalpur Bar Association secretary. Our Bar Association president received the complaint. The complaint has been forwarded to the additional district judge.”
