A 45-year old man in the Dhalai district, Tripura, was reportedly beaten to death, on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, by a group of women after an alleged attempt to rape a minor.
As per reports, on Tuesday, a man tried to rape a 5-year-old girl, in a forest near Gandacherra area Tripura after he lured her away from her mother during a festival. Following this, police had stated that they have interrogated four people, none of them was detained.
Rape Accused Beaten To Death, what we know:
On hearing the girl’s cries, the local residents reportedly went to her rescue only to find that the accused had already run away. In the wake of the incident, a furious group of women, in an attempt to find the accused, blocked the Gandacherra- Amarpur highway immediately, demanding his arrest.
As per reports by the Press Trust of India, the accused, who had fled to a nearby village, was spotted by a few women on Wednesday morning, who nabbed him and restrained him to a tree. The accused allegedly was a former inmate and had just completed eight years of imprisonment in a murder case.
The accused was then beaten mercilessly to death, by a group of women. Officer P Datta of the Gandacherra police station has revealed “The man was admitted to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries. We are investigating the matter.” No further details have been revealed yet.
Gandacherra station has also taken a suo moto case with charges of murder.
Crime against Women
The National Commission Of Women as per the latest data reported that around 31,000 complaints were received for crime against women in 2021. Uttar Pradesh topped the chart followed by Delhi which had reported 3,336 cases.
