Ramnagar Rape Case: Five Year Old Raped By A 20-Year-old Man, Absconding

A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 20-year-old man at Ramnagar in Thane, Maharashtra. The accused who lived in the same locality as the survivor is absconding. The police is now investigating the Ramnagar Rape Case.

The investigating police said that a first-person report (FIR) was registered against the accused on November 14 at the Shanti Nagar police station in Thane. The accused has been charged under the sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act as well as under the sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

"A case has been lodged under POCSO Act and IPC Section 376. Search is underway for the absconding accused," said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Yogesh Chawan.

According to the media reports, the incident took place outside the survivor's house on Sunday. The Shanti Nagar police station official said that the survivor was playing outside her house when the accused approached her and took her inside a house under the pretext of giving her chocolate and then allegedly committed the crime. The case is under investigation.

- In September this year, a 22-year-old man allegedly raped a minor at Bhayandar in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The man was arrested and charged with non-bailable offences as well as POCSO Act.
