Legal Intervention Against Media Trial
It was reported a few days ago that Rhea Chakraborty has named Singh in her statement to the Narcotics Control Board (NCB). However, she retracted the statement later. Singh’s plea said that the media continues to link her to the drug probe despite the retraction.
The Delhi HC said it hoped that media houses would show restraint in their reports, and recommended that they should “abide by the cable TV regulations, program code and various guidelines." The high court also told media to follow "statutory and self regulatory” regulations, emphasising upon careful reporting concerning the petitioner, Rakul Preet Singh.
Delhi HC also noted that a universal message will be sent even if action is taken against one contravening channel.
Bollywood Drug Probe
Apart from Singh, Chakraborty had also named Sara Ali Khan and designer Simone Khambatta. Elaborating on the same, the deputy director of NCB, KPS Malhotra, said in a statement, "Their names have surfaced but right now we can’t comment on the further course of action."
According to a Times Now report, Rhea Chakraborty’s statement to the NCB mentions names of around 25 notable Bollywood celebrities. She has accused them of having alleged links with drug peddlers. So far, the police have arrested 16 people, including Rhea, in this matter. Read more about it here.
