The controversy queen of Bollywood -- Rakhi Sawant -- is in trouble again. She was arrested by the Punjab Police in Mumbai on Tuesday for making controversial remarks against Valmiki and that too her arrest comes on Ram Navami day. The action comes on the heels of an FIR being lodged against her for reportedly making an improper remark against Valmiki, the mythological sage who wrote Ramayana.

Sawant was arrested following a warrant issued by a Ludhiana court on March 9. She was charged for hurting religious sentiments of the Valmiki community with her comments at a programme on a private TV channel last year. When the actress failed to appear before the judge in March, a team of Punjab Police took her into custody.
Prior to the arrest, the 38-year-old actor shared an apology video, confirming her love for Valmiki and stating that she is being targeted because of her celebrity status. When asked about the entire fiasco and her reaction after hearing the news, Sawant said, “When I got the news, I initially thought it was an April Fool prank. I don’t know why I am being targeted. Maybe because I belong to the film industry, I am an easy target.”
Rakhi added, “I did not receive any notice or summon in regard to the warrant. I too got to know from the media this morning that police is coming to arrest me, because allegedly I told something wrong against sage Valmiki. I respect him and Valmiki community a lot. I don’t know why I am being targeted (sic),” India.com reported.
The controversy doesn't stop here! She went on to say, “I am not Salman Khan, I am Rakhi Sawant. You won’t get anything by putting charges on me. I am a simple girl who does social work and work in movies,” ANI reported. She completely denied the charges of allegedly making objectionable remarks against sage Valmiki.
Earlier too, Rakhi was charged at the Kankroli police station in Rajasthan for wearing a black dress with pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The pictures were uploaded by the actress on social media sites nearly two months ago.
The complaint stated that the actress has been "allegedly indulging in obscenity and defaming the PM”. Sawant was seen wearing this dress, which had pictures of Modi printed all over it, during her US trip in August.
The next hearing of the case is scheduled for April 10.
