The woman, identified as Deepika Patidar, fled in the company of her friend, Irfan Haidar. Her family became aware of the situation when pictures of her wearing a burqa began circulating on social media, as reported by Press Trust of India and confirmed by the police.

This situation bears resemblance to the case of Anju, an Indian woman who ventured to Pakistan to reunite with a friend. Hailing from the Bhiwadi district in Rajasthan, Anju embarked on a journey to Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in July with the intention of meeting her 29-year-old Facebook acquaintance, Nasrullah, and later tied the knot in a local court.

Despite being married and a mother of two, Anju departed from her family in Rajasthan on July 21 and crossed the border into Pakistan. She had informed her husband that she was travelling to Jaipur to see her friend while simultaneously notifying her employer that she was heading to Goa to visit her sister.
