'Family And I Under Threat': News Anchor Who Accused Minister's Son Of Rape

A Rajasthan woman has claimed that there is a threat to her and her family’s life. The woman had recently accused Rajasthan cabinet minister Mahesh Joshi’s son Rohit of sexually assaulting her. The woman had accused Rohit raped her on multiple occasions.

The woman, who is in her early twenties, works as a news anchor and met Rohit in January 2021 through Facebook and became friends. She alleged that from January last year until April 2022, Joshi had allegedly raped her multiple times. She also accused him of intoxicating her with drugs, causing miscarriage and abduction.

Rajasthan Minister's Son Accused Of Rape

Recalling an instance, the survivor claimed that she visited Delhi with the accused in September last year. She alleged that she was allegedly assaulted by him in the hotel room she was lodging at by Rohit. She also claimed that he had promised to marry her but went back on his words and began threatening her.

“He would beat me up and make obscene videos of me. He would threaten to upload them and make them viral,” the survivor alleged in the FIR. She added, “On August 11 last year, I found out I was pregnant with his baby. He said he couldn’t have the baby. He forced me to take a pill, but I did not.”

According to reports, he also got the survivor to sign an affidavit which states that she was indulging in the activities on her own will and that she is not liable for legal action against him if the situation arises.

Delhi Police has registered an FIR against Rohit at Sadar Bazar police station, reports suggest. The zero FIR was filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including 376 (rape), 312 (causing miscarriage), 328 (Causing hurt by means of poison), 366 (Kidnapping), 506 (Criminal Intimidation), and 509 (insulting the modesty of any woman). The investigation however was transferred to Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan.

A report quoted the accused Rohit saying that the father-son duo learnt about the incident through social media.

Who Is Rohit Joshi?

Rohit is Rajasthan Cabinet minister Mahesh Joshi’s son. Rohit, who is also a member of Congress, has been actively working for the party and is often spotted at several public gatherings with his father. Rohit is already married and has a child.
