Rajasthan’s Nagaur district police arrested 4 people, including the survivor's brother for raping a 14-year-old minor girl. The matter was known to the family on Monday after the 14-year-old delivered the baby on Sunday night.
Police have held the minor's brother and three other men from the same village under the charges of the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences Act. The family of the minor girl has admitted to having known of the incident and also confessed that the accused have raped their daughter several times in the past as well.
In a statement given by the station house officer SHO of Padukalan Police Station, Narottam Singh said, “The girl is a minor of 14 years old and she is unmarried. The case came to our knowledge when her parents rushed her to the Zana hospital in Ajmer on Sunday night. The doctors informed us about the matter, and that the mother was a minor when the baby was delivered safely.”

Adding to his statement, Singh said that the minor mother and her child is under police custody for further medical supervision.
A similar case was reported from Rajasthan’s Jalore district in October when two minor girls were allegedly raped by four men. The victims, who were cousins were aged 14 and 17. Earlier the same month, a case was registered by the police of Baran district where two minor girls were escalated to Kota and Jaipur by two boys who raped them for over three days. However, the girls later denied the rape allegations in their statement given to the Rajasthan police.

In 2019, the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) revealed Rajasthan to be on high alarms with the state reporting 902 gang rape cases which is highest in the country.
According to information found in the Legislative Assembly, 2757 rape cases have been registered from January 2019 to January 2020; besides, an average of 88 such cases are registered in this country every month.
In 2018, 1219 cases were of minors out of a total of 2081 rape cases reported in the state. Out of which, 41 cases were such where the victims age was below six years.
