A lot of states are coming up with innovative ideas to promote the campaign Save the girl child. For instance, Raigarh district administration in Chhattisgarh is sending attractive and colourful greeting cards to all those women who give birth to girls. The greeting cards carry the message - 'Save and educate the girl child'.
That is not all. The administration also ensures that the greeting cards carry the pictures of mother and the new-born daughters. The hospital boards display these pictures under 'Mahtari-Noni' for the visitors to see. (Mahtari-Noni means mother and girl in Chhattisgarh dialect.)

Talking about the reason behind the plan, Raigarh District Collector Shammi Abidi told The Asian Age, "The initiative was taken up under the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' (BBBP) Scheme at 62 primary/community health centres in the district to encourage the birth of girl child as well as institutional deliveries."
"We have done it so that a woman, who gives birth to a baby girl feels proud." She also added that the response they have been getting is overwhelming. They are also planning to replicate the gesture in private hospitals in the district.
This endeavour is in the right direction of improving the sex-ratio of the district by empowering girls and their mothers.

In fact, State Chief Secretary Vivek Dhand liked the campaign so much that he has decided to implement the same in Balod, Janjgir-Champa, Jashpur, Kabeerdham and Narayanpur districts in the coming days.
A lot of other states have also been prepping up to sensitise the masses about the need to saving the girl child. Last month, Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat kicked off the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” cycle rally from the Police Line Maidan in Dehradun.
