Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were finally given permission to go to Hathras with only three other representatives. This is their second attempt to meet the family members of the woman who was allegedly gang raped on September 14, and died from her injuries in Delhi on September 29. Her family had later alleged that the UP police had "forcibly" cremated the 19-year-old Dalit woman, leading to nationwide unrest.
On their way, as per video reports, there was a lathi charge preventing their trip. India Today reported that cops lathi-charged Congress workers. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and her brother, Rahul Gandhi, were stopped at the Delhi-UP border while on their way to Hathras to meet the family of the 20-year-old Dalit woman who was allegedly gang raped and murdered last month on 14th September.

Both Gandhi and Vadra had tried to enter Hathras on Thursday and were briefly detained in Greater Noida (near Delhi). Reportedly, on their second attempt, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s car had been stopped at the border and they were seen negotiating with the Noida Police. As per the latest update, they both have crossed over to Noida through the DND toll after permission was granted to them go to Hathras, according to Noida Police. However, the police have given permission for a five-member delegation of MPs led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. CrPC Section 144 remains imposed in UP's Gautam Buddh Nagar.

In the marching protest, the brother and sister were joined by Congress workers who also have been stopped at the Delhi-Noida flyway. They were present at the spot with other leaders, facing a large contingent of police which was deployed on Saturday at the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border.
Earlier in the day, borders to Hathras were opened after 48 hours, however, only reporters are allowed, and “Rahul Gandhi is not allowed… currently the arrival of any political party leader is banned,” Hathras Joint Magistrate Prem Prakash Meena told, NDTV reported. Many journalists crossed the barricades and entered the village after the Uttar Pradesh administration said the Special Investigation Team (SIT) had completed its investigation into the case.
