Camilla, the Queen Consort spoke at a Buckingham Palace event about the threat of domestic abuse and violence against women. The Queen Consort warned of a “global pandemic of violence against women” and called for an end to crimes against women.
Queen Consort Camilla said survivors of domestic abuse and violence need to be “listened to and believed”.
The Buckingham Palace event marked one of Camilla’s highest-profile efforts to raise awareness about domestic abuse. According to the palace sources, Camilla feels “passionately” about the issue.

Queen Consort Camilla On Domestic Abuse
Queen Consort Camilla spoke against the background of the United Nations’ 16 days of activism against gender-based violence. Camilla said that police figures suggested that 3,000 women would be raped in England and Wales during the 16 days.
Camilla spoke of the importance of remembering women who had been murdered and also said she met women who showed how “victims have become victors”.
She recalled a woman with a violent ex-partner who had been sent to prison. The woman was now working to support others who were living in “permanent fear”.
Among those attending the reception at the Buckingham Palace were Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, Home Secretary Suella Braverman, and the former Spice Girl Melanie Brown.

Sue Harper, head of domestic abuse prevention at Hestia said, “Domestic abuse is such a hidden and damaging crime”. She also praised Queen Consort’s “unwavering” support in highlighting the issue.
According to the Office for National Statistic’s crime survey figures, there were 2.4 million adults in England and Wales who faced domestic abuse last year. Almost three-quarters of the adults who faced domestic abuse were women.
