Another international badminton title is in sight for India. Olympic Silver Medallist PV Sindhu on Thursday (Nov 23) knocked out Aya Ohori of Japan 21-14, 21-17 in the second round of the Hong Kong Super Series. The second seed badminton player has now entered the quarter-finals.

Sindhu will most probably face off China Open winner Akane Yamaguchi in the quarter-finals.
Earlier on Wednesday, the world no 2, Sindhu had beaten Hong Kong's Leung Yuet Yee 21-18 21-10 in the opening round of the $400,000 Hong Kong Super Series and advanced to the second round.

On Wednesday (Nov 22), other Indian shuttlers -- World No. 11 Saina Nehwal and HS Prannoy -- started off well in the tournament, progressing to the second round.

London Olympics bronze medallist Saina advanced to the second round, defeating World No. 44 Mette Poulsen of Denmark. She won 21-19, 23-21 in a match lasting 46 minutes.
Meanwhile, the women's doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy fought hard but couldn’t keep up in a game against the Chinese combo of Huang Dongping and Li Wenmei. They lost 11-21, 21-19, 19-21.

Before this series, the two biggest champions from India -- PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal – were up against each other in the much-awaited Senior National Badminton Championships 2017. Nehwal won the clash and emerged victorious with a 21-17, 27-25 win against Sindhu to become India’s national women’s champion for the third time.
