Olympic Silver Medallist, PV Sindhu was chasing the Hong Kong Open Superseries, Women’s Singles crown for the second year in succession on Sunday (Nov 26). However, she bowed out in a tough battle with the World No 1 and top seed, Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei. But it wasn’t an easy game for the champion.
Ying garnered a 21-18, 21-18 scoreline in three-quarters of an hour and silenced the Indian ace, who had to settle for a silver.

But this is not the first time the two players faced off each other. Not the first time either that Sindhu merely lost the title to the Taiwanese.

A year ago, Ying had knocked down the Indian in a game of 21-15, 21-17 and emerged victorious in the summit clash of the same competition.
With this win, she now bagged her third Hong Kong title in four years. It was only in 2015 when she missed out the medal.

The Hong Kong Open Champion 2017 Ying has also secured her fabulous seventh major title of the year including the All England, Malaysia, Singapore and French Opens, Badminton Asia and the World University Games.
Sindhu, on the other hand, lost in bringing Korea Open Superseries titles for India. But she held on to the Syed Modi Grand Prix Gold crown she had won earlier this year, along with the silver medal at the Glasgow World Championships – few of her greatest matches in history.
Sindhu has recently slipped a place to be number three in the world rankings.
