Punjab government has taken a decision to reopen all the government, aided and non-aided colleges, including all the government and private universities, from January 21.

All the higher educational institutes will have to act in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Punjab government regarding Covid-19 from time to time. These guidelines are said to be in the interest of the students. A detailed letter has been issued to all the universities and colleges by the Higher Education Department, Punjab.

What Do The Guidelines Say?
- According to the official spokesperson of the Punjab Government, as per the guidelines, the educational institutions should conduct classes through both offline and online medium.
- The semester/annual examinations are supposed to be conducted through offline medium only.
- Students will be allowed to take classes as per their choice and no institute will compel the students to attend the classes physically.
- Hostels should be opened in the universities and colleges following the instructions of Covid-19. While allotting hostel rooms, the safety of the students will be a priority. The rooms would either be allotted per student or according to the size of the room keeping in view the required distance of the students. However, priority would be given to final year students at the time of allotment.
- Mess/canteen, etc., in the educational institutions, should be opened as per the instructions of the health department taking care of all necessary safety measures.
- It will be mandatory for all the Universities and Colleges to follow all the guidelines/instructions issued by the Punjab government, Centre and the Higher Education Department regarding Covid-19 from time to time. This in order to ensure the safety of the students.
