Woman was arrested under MCOCA on Monday
Then on Tuesday, the police invoked additional sections such as Sections 3(1)(i) and 3(4) off MCOCA against the now-deceased woman, and get co-accused Nilesh Umesh Shelar.
“She was arrested under MCOCA yesterday (Monday) but also tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday (Monday). So, she was placed under judicial custody and admitted to Sassoon General Hospital," Rahul Patil, deputy commissioner of police, Zone-2, Pune. He then added that the lady had gone inside for a bath, and to wash clothes, but didn't open the door for a very long time. Then the police had to enter the bathroom, and they found that the glass tiles on the ventilation window had been removed.
After that, the police went to the place between the morgue and the 11-storey building meant for treating COVID-19 patients.
Chandrakant Sangale, assistant commissioner of police, Lashkar Division of Pune police said that the glasses of the window was not there and that the lady was lying dead under it. Also, the metal frame and the window glasses were large enough for any person to go through, so the woman might have jumped through it.
One of the woman's colleagues said that no one knew what was going on and that they were informed about what had happened an hour ago.
Meanwhile, advocate Tosif Sayyed requested everyone to report that the lady had been murdered and that she can't die of suicide. He added that she had already complained about the atrocities committed on her by the police.
