Rasila Raju OP, a native of Kerala, was found dead, strangled with a computer cable, on the ninth floor of Infosys’ facility in phase II of the Hinjewadi IT park near Pune, late on Sunday. The alleged perpetrator, 26-year-old Bhaben Saikia (originally from Assam), has been arrested from Mumbai in connection with the case.

It has come to light that Rasila had earlier filed complaints against the watchman for his inappropriate advances towards her. Her maternal uncle told PTI that the company had taken no action towards rectifying the situation

Her uncle said, "We will file a complaint seeking a detailed inquiry into Rasila’s death. Earlier, while making calls here, she had mentioned about the same security guard making advances towards her. Though she had complained to the company officials, no action had been taken."

Rasila had visited her village Kizhakkal Kadavu in Kozhikode district only two months ago and preparations were on for her marriage. Her family and village are shocked to hear about her death.

The alleged accused, who was arrested at the Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus, had started working at Infosys six months ago. Earlier, he used to work with a private security firm and there was no previous record of crime at the time of his appointment. He is to be kept in police custody until February 4. A post-mortem of the body will be conducted once Rasila's family reaches Pune.
