Pune school gets cattle fodder: A school run by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) reportedly received a supply of cattle fodder instead of mid-day meal food for students on Tuesday. The mayor of Pune, calling the incident "unfortunate," demanded an inquiry into it. PMC officers said they have halted supply of food for now.
As per reports, the incident occurred at school number 58 on the PMC roll. After activists raised the issue in public, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) took cognisance of the apparent mix-up and retrieved the fodder from the school site.
"Mid-day meal scheme is run by state govt. Municipal corporation is responsible for only distribution among students. It's very unfortunate. An inquiry is demanded," mayor Murlidhar Mohol was quoted saying.

This school in Hadapsar has over 240 students. Civic body representatives have assured they will look into the matter.
"There was one sack which had the cattle feed. The school has locked all the supplies and the FDA has sealed the place. The FDA will test it in the laboratory. The lentils looked substandard. The tender to supply food grains was given to a Mumbai-based company by the state government and the Hadapsar school was the first recipient. We have stopped the supply for now," PMC education officer Minakshi Raut said.
