The principal of a private school in Pune, Maharashtra, was reportedly assaulted by members of a right-wing outfit after parents of girl students complained that CCTV was installed in the girls' bathroom, according to a police statement on Thursday.
A video of the assault, which happened on Thursday afternoon, has been doing the viral rounds on social media platforms. The clip showed the principal, whose clothes were torn, being chased by a group of people inside the school premises in the area of Talegaon Dabhade.

Talegaon MIDC inspector Ranjit Sawant said that The parents stated in the complaint to the police that the school had installed a CCTV camera in the girl's bathroom, conducted "prayers from the Bible," and didn't provide holidays on Hindu festivals. He added that the police are looking into the allegations raised by the parents.
Police also mentioned that following the complaint, some members of the right-wing outfit allegedly manhandled the school principal, who is a Christian, inside the school premises.
A parent claimed that a CCTV camera was installed in the girl's bathroom and noted that it was an attempt to expose students to "Christian Culture." The school authorities have stated that they don't want to comment on the matter.
Rajasthan School Principal Arrested
Earlier in June, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued notices to the Rajasthan government and the state police over sexual assault allegations against six students by a government school principal. The students were aged between 9 and 12, studying in a government school in Rajasthan's Dungarpur district. The principal was taken into custody by the police.
The NHRC issued a notice to the chief secretary and director general of police in Rajasthan, asking for a detailed report on the matter to be submitted within four weeks. The report should include the FIR, action taken against the principal, and compensation, if any, granted to the minor survivors. The commission also asked if counselling was provided to the students who would have been traumatised by the assault.
