A terrible road accident has been reported on the Pune-Mumbai highway which has taken the public by shock. A bus that was travelling from Pune to Mumbai was filled with passengers when it lost balance and fell into the gorge on the side of the highway.

Road accidents are the most common reason for the increasing number of deaths in India. Despite various precautions and awareness programs, the number of road accidents has not seen a decrease. In fact, there have been many cases of terrible road accidents lately that caused death or left people horribly injured.
Another such incident was recently reported from the Khopoli region of Maharashtra where a bus travelling to Mumbai fell into a gorge near the highway leaving several passengers injured and some of them lost their lives.

Pune-Mumbai Highway Bus Accident
- The bus was travelling from Pune to Mumbai and took the old Pune-Mumbai highway route to reach its destination.
- The bus had around 41 passengers, all of them belonging to the same organisation based in Goregaon. They were returning from a work trip to Pune.
- The incident reportedly took place on Saturday at around 4 am in the morning near the Shingroba temple of Khopoli region, Raigad, Maharashtra.
- It is not yet been confirmed how the accident happened but the bus reportedly lost balance and went straight into a 150 feet deep gorge close to the Shingroba temple.
- As soon as the authorities came to know of the accident, a rescue operation was initiated and police and rescue teams reached the accident spot.
- Out of around 41 passengers, 12 passengers died on the spot while the remaining 29 were rescued and transferred to a nearby hospital.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde have expressed their grief regarding the unfateful incident that happened and extended their condolences to the families of the deceased and injured.
- The PM has assured to provide financial help of 2 lakh rupees to the family of the deceased and 50,000 rupees to the family of injured people in the accident from the Prime Minister National Relief Fund.
- CM Eknath Shinde visited the injured people admitted in the MGM hospital.
- Shinde also assured financial help of 5 lakh rupees to the family of the deceased from the state government and free treatment in government hospitals for the people injured in the accident.
