Family Mourning Son's Death Attacked For Requesting Low DJ Volume Amid Ganesh Immersion

The scene of this harrowing incident was a quiet residential area at Somatne Phata in Maval taluka, where a solemn atmosphere was shattered by an outbreak of violence at around 11 pm on a fateful Monday night. The survivors, Sunil Shinde (38), a farmer and real estate dealer, his brother Ganesh, their mother Surekha, father Sadashiv, a friend Kiran Yewale, and their driver Janmaraj Kamble, all suffered severe head injuries in the horrifying mob attack.

Grief Turned to Horror

The roots of this tragedy trace back to the deep grief that had enveloped the Shinde family. Just a week ago, they had lost their 16-year-old son in a tragic accident, leaving them in mourning. On that ill-fated Monday night, as a Ganesh immersion procession passed by their residence, Sunil Shinde, perhaps in a bid to find some solace in a quieter environment, politely requested the participants to lower the volume of their speakers.

The Brutal Retaliation

What should have been a simple request took a nightmarish turn. Instead of understanding and empathy, the procession returned, armed not with compassion but with sharp weapons and menacing metal rods. They unleashed a violent assault on Sunil and his family members, leaving them with grievous injuries.

Pursuit of Justice

Following this horrific incident, Sunil Shinde filed a formal complaint at the Talegaon Dabhade police station on the subsequent day. The local police, led by Assistant Inspector Sameer Wagh, launched a thorough investigation. It was revealed that the attackers were primarily aged between 25 and 50 and shared familial and neighbourhood ties with the victims.

Arrests Made

In a commendable and swift action, the Talegaon Dabhade police managed to apprehend 21 individuals suspected of involvement in the brutal attack. The accused face serious charges including attempted murder, rioting, criminal intimidation, and violations of the Arms Act.
