Pune-based Prineet Grewal wins Mrs. India Earth beauty pageant

Twenty nine-year-old Prineet Grewal has been crowned Mrs India Earth 2016. The three-day event  concluded at a hotel in Dwarka in New Delhi on Friday. Paris Keswani from New York and Roshini Hassan from Guwahati became the first and second runners up respectively.

A total 41 finalists were chosen to be a part of the beauty pageant from different parts of the world. Mrs India Earth happens annually and is all about ‘beauty with a cause’ as each finalist had been given some environment-related task. As a result, 15,000 saplings were planted across the country and internationally as well.

“With the pageant, we want to spread awareness as well as empower them (the women),” said Vinaya Yadava, director of Mrs India Earth, as reported by the Business Standard.

Prineet took to the social media to thank people for their good wishes. "Overwhelmed and humbled ..!!! thank you so much for your good wishes folks.. They give me so much strength ...!!!!!," she wrote on her facebook page.
