A Pune Auto driver was booked on Thursday for allegedly kissing and molesting an 18-year-old woman passenger. However, police said that the accused has not been arrested yet.
According to the FIR registered by the girl, she had gotten into the auto around 5 pm. She claimed that the driver had held her hands and touched her inappropriately. Despite her resistance, he parked the auto on the side of the road and forcefully kissed her. Somehow the girl had managed to get out of the auto.
Pune Auto Driver Booked For Harassment
The girl also alleged that he saved a number under the name Sachin on her phone and left the scene. The girl then approached the police to file a complaint against the auto driver.
The auto driver has been booked under IPC sections 354 (assault or criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354 D (stalking), 354 A (sexual harassment), and 505 (criminal intimidation).
Auto Driver Misbehaved With Woman Journalist
An Uber auto driver in Delhi allegedly harassed a female passenger in the first week of March. The journalist, who is a resident of Bharat Nagar, filed a complaint with the Friends Colony police. She stated that the Uber auto driver, Vinod Kumar Yadav, had behaved and stared at her in a lewd manner while she was travelling from New Friends Colony to Malviya Nagar.
The accused, Vinod Kumar Yadav, was detained by the police for sexual harassment. According to Southeast Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rajesh Deo, a case has been registered under IPC Section 509 (words, gestures, or acts designed to offend a woman’s modesty).
The journalist shared the entire ordeal on Twitter and also posted a video of it on social media. She mentioned how he continued to behave inappropriately despite her threatening to call the police. He had even dared her to make the call.
TN Auto Driver Arrested Sexual Harassment
In August of last year, the Coimbatore city police arrested an auto driver for sexually harassing a 22-year-old woman passenger. The woman, who works for a private company, had booked an auto to return to her home in Selvapuram from the Hope Bust stand. The accused auto driver, identified as Mohammed Sadiq, 43, suddenly began touching the woman inappropriately. She had asked him to stop the auto, but he continued to misbehave with her.
The woman finally jumped out of the moving auto and injured herself in the process. She had called her friends, who arrived at the scene and took her to the hospital. Based on her complaint, the accused was arrested under IPC 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 354 (A) (sexual harassment) and Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women (TNPHW) Act.
