Promising Young Woman: The Golden Globe Awards announced the list of nominated persons for the year 2021 on Wednesday. Emerald Fennell's Promising Young Woman won a total of four nominations.
Emerald Fennell became part of a historical event as the Golden Globes nominated three women in the best director category. This is the first time it has ever happened. Carey Mulligan got nominated in the best actress category for her role in Promising Young Woman and the film won two nominations in best drama and best screenplay.
In the film, Carey Mulligan plays the role of a 30-year-old woman who works at a coffee shop but in the evening she pretends to be a drunk person trying to teach lessons to men.
The film opened in Sundance Film Festival has been grabbed positive attention from the critics. Carey Mulligan also won the Palm Springs International Award for her role in the movie that hits out at toxic masculinity and portrays female rage.
Promising Young Woman is the first film ever directed by the Emerald Fennell. It is a big win for Fennell since the film not just grabbed attention at film festivals but also has no been recognised at the Golden Globe Awards. The film also features Bo Burnham and Alison Brie as cast members.
Emerald Fennell played the role of Camilla in the popular British web series The Crown season four. The series also had a considerable mention at the Golden Globe nominations this year as Olivia Coleman, Emma Corrin, Gillian Anderson, Helena Bonham Carter and Josh O'Conner got nominated in the best actor, actress and supporting actress categories.
