Priyanka Mishra, the female constable from Uttar Pradesh who was recently seen in a viral video, has resigned from her post. Mishra's video, in which she could be seen flaunting a gun, raise much furor on social media, as many felt that it glorified the high crime rate in the state. Several people had demanded an official enquiry into the video, following which a probe was initiated into the matter.

Mishra also took to social media to appeal to people, to stop trolling her. "I am willing to quit my job, but please don't troll me," she said.
The video came to light in late August this year. Mishra, a trainee constable in Agra and an avid social media user, posted a video on Instagram, in which she could be see showing off a gun and lip-syncing to the popular Bhojpuri dialogue Rangbaazi. Being a trainee, Mishra hadn't been assigned a service revolver to carry for duty, which also raised questions on how did she procure it then?
The clip in question has lines like, "Haryana, Punjab toh bekaar hi badnaam hai, aao kabhi Uttar Pradesh mein – rangbaazi kya hoti hai, hum tumhe batate hain," further claiming that in UP even five-year-old boys know how to use a katta (gun).
After outrage, Senior Superintendent Muniraj G ordered an enquiry into the incident and Mishra was sent to police lines. The video was originally posted by Mishra on August 21, but she later deleted it. Despite this, the 37-second long clip led to a huge jump in Mishra's followers in social media.
In June this year, a woman constable and a male cop, posted at Model Town police station, were served with show cause notices when it was discovered that the two were shooting videos for social media during duty hours, that too while wearing their uniform. While the duo had shot many videos, one particular clip- a rehash of Ayesha Jhulaka's hit song Tukur Tukur, from the film Masoom caught social media's attention. Read more about it here.
